The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University invites applications for an Assistant Professorship (tenure track) in Italian Studies, to begin August 2016. The successful candidate will be a specialist in Medieval literature and culture, particularly Dante Studies. Active research interest in Mediterranean Studies and/or material culture, folklore, history of science, translation studies and digital humanities would be regarded as special assets.
We are a thriving undergraduate and M.A. program in Italian Studies. We are seeking an innovative, dynamic and productive scholar with interdisciplinary and cross-cultural focus able to complement our existing strengths and connect with other Programs and the broader university community.
Excellence in teaching and commitment to the growth of the Program are essential. Typical teaching load is 2/2. The candidate will primarily teach upper-level language, literature and culture courses in Italian and English, at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as Liberal Studies courses.
Ph.D. required at time of employment. Native or near native fluency in Italian required. Salary is competitive.
