The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent University Lecturer in Film and other Screen Media, from 1 September 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a new post.
Candidates will normally have a PhD in a relevant field, an outstanding record of research and publication (or clear evidence of potential publication) in any area of Screen Media, and a particular focus on film, television and/or digital and new media in relation to at least one of the language areas taught within the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages (http://www.mml.cam.ac.uk/subjects.html).
The successful candidate will be expected to take primary responsibility for undergraduate teaching in Film across language areas, to contribute to the teaching of visual culture in one or more of the Departments within the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages, to play a role in coordinating the MPhil in Screen Media and Cultures, and to attract and supervise postgraduate students at masters and doctoral level. The language of instruction is English. The successful candidate will also be expected to play an active role in supporting and developing the teaching and research of the Screen Media Group in Cambridge, participating in an ongoing programme of academic and cultural activities, and to undertake departmental and faculty administrative duties as required.
