Postgraduate Scholarships in Italian at the University of Birmingham, UK (deadline January 12th, 2016)

Recruitment for PhD Scholarships at the University of Birmingham is now open. This year, up to 89 fully-funded Scholarships will be awarded across the six Universities involved in the Midlands3Cities consortium, giving prospective postgraduates of Italian at Birmingham a very strong chance of success. The Midlands3Cities consortium is a Doctoral Training Programme that offers students from the UK and abroad the highest quality PhD supervision, as well as placement and professional development opportunities that will equip them for their future careers. To join our thriving postgraduate community, please follow the three stages below and mark the deadline of January 12th, 2016.

Stage two Apply for a place to study at the University of Birmingham at: http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/postgraduate/courses/research/lang/italian-studies.aspx

Application Writing Workshop:

We will be running an application-writing workshop at Birmingham on November 14th. This is a great opportunity to experience life on our campus as you prepare for the M3C competition. Italian at Birmingham:

Italian Studies at the UoB is part of the Department of Modern Languages, which boasts a postgraduate community of over 150 students. Within Italian Studies, we have a number of students attending Masters programmes and 14 doctoral students working on a range of topics from Medieval Studies to contemporary Cultural Studies. Our academic team (made up of six internationally-renowned, fulltime researchers) offers expertise and supervision in the following areas:

            Italian and European politics
            Media Studies

            Italian critical thought
            Medieval Studies
History of the Italian language between the 12th and 14th centuries
            Renaissance Literature and Art
            Gender and Sexuality Studies
